I’ve just got an 05 mustang GT automatic transmission. Looking for something that will NOT kill my engine with time and not TOO loud. About 200-250 hp is good enough. Just keep in mind that I’m very new to this business. Thanks in advance…

First off, swap in a 6 speed. Autoboxes are a waste. Second, supercharge, get a chip and a straight flowing exhaust.
the best and the simplest performance mod for any car is a complete exhaust system and intake
intake, exhaust and chip to tune it. cheapest, most noticable results
Ok, just as a heads up… 200-250 HP more than stock will eventually kill the engine. Remember that stock pieces are designed to handle only so much power and to handle a major upgrade in power you need stronger, more expensive pieces. Over time the stock pieces will get beat to the point that they won’t hold up any longer. Another major concern is the trans. The 5R55S in your car is NOT designed to hold up to major power upgrades and will give you problems quickly. You will need to have the trans rebuilt with stronger pieces as well. Also a torque converter and deep sump pan is a must for this trans. If you are serious about racing, stick with the auto. A well built auto at a strip is super consistent and they shift faster than most people do.
Start small. Get a CAI, long tube headers, gears (important), a converter, UDP’s, sticky tires, and a good tune (bamachips, tillmanspeed, brenspeed) and practice running mid to upper 12’s with consistancy.
Your car stock is a 300hp car. To stay saft you want to stay under 500hp. If it were me and I wasnt going to build up my engine I would shoot for 450 hp. The best way to do this is a supercharger. Now you just have to decide whether you want a roots type supercharger, twin screw, or centrifugal. If it were me I would forget about the centrifugal, it opperates a lot like a turbo giving you good high end power but little low and mid range power. I know a lot of people have had good performance with the prochargers but If it were me I would go with a twin screw kenne bell supercharger.
Go to the web site I listed for you and you will see that with a kenne bell and only 5psi of boost without the need for an intercooler will give you 472hp, which is the perfect amount for a non built 05 mustang engine. You can also turn the boost up to 8psi when you go to the track and get 525hp. I think this will be the perfect upgrade for you. With this you can add some 2.5” catback exhaust and you will have the perfect combination of sound and power that you are looking for.
