Mustang GT
david d asked:

the back bumper says mustang gt and it has the 4.6 gt decal but those could easily be placed there. The reason i ask is becaues i heard it run and it has a flowmaster exhaust and it sounded pretty weak, im just wondering if theres a way to look at the actual engine and tell for sure its the 4.6 gt not a 6. thanks alot.1

the first sign would be to look at the back bumper, it should have 2 mufflers, next when you look at the engine make sure that it has 8 cylinders and when you start it it will sound like a rumbling and will have EXCELLENT pickup when you drive it. have fun

The GT designation is located within the serial number of the car……….don’t quote me you might have to find out for yourself but, if my memory serves me correctly it is the tenth digit in the serial number that denotes whether or not it is a GT model and not a made up one.

bring the vin# to a local ford dealer, the 10th digit is the year model. You can also punch the vin number into the carfax website and it will tell you for free, good luck

One way to tell if it’s an v8 is count the sparkplug wires there should be 8 sparkplugs.

If you can’t tell then you should be buying a mustang GT.

Easy, the only way to have a V8 Mustang, since 1994, is to buy a GT. If it has 8 cylinders, then it is a GT. If it has 6, then it is a standard Mustang.
